Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a cutting-edge martial arts style, perfected by the legendary Gracie family in Brazil. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu employs the use of throws, chokes, holds, joint locks, kicks, and strikes. Although students initially learn BJJ techniques one at a time without combining movement, the essence of BJJ is the ability to flow quickly from one technique to another to control an attacker.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is the fastest growing martial art in the world and has proven itself in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competitions throughout the world since the 1990s. Coming from Japan and developed by the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu family, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu quickly dominated other styles of Martial Arts. With its lightning-fast submissions and suffocating chokes, BJJ has become unstoppable. This sport will transform your mind and body. After a few short weeks of training at our Academy in Fort Collins, you will notice more muscle and less fat on your body. You will also notice confidence growing in all areas of your life, both professionally and personally.

What to expect at my first class at MTC?
You’re ready to try a free class and have submitted your information to our team, congratulations!. One of our team members will be in touch to schedule your first free Jiu Jitsu class. They will reach out a day prior to the class to confirm the details and send you a digital waiver.
For those who are new to Jiu-Jitsu, your initial class will be in one of our Fundamentals classes. Before the class commences, you will have a 30-minute intro session with a coach, during which you'll be introduced to the basics: mat etiquette, the history of BJJ, and fundamental positions and movements. If you have trained before we may invite you to try one of our intermediate or advanced classes.
Once the 30-minute intro is completed, the real excitement begins! All participants will form a line on the mat, arranged by rank. After a respectful bow, indicating the start of the class, a 10-minute warm-up session will kick things off. Following this, the coach will demonstrate techniques and then the students in class will work with their partner to practice. In the final segment of the class, students engage in some live training, putting into action the techniques they acquired during the class!
