March 16th Junior Grapplers Schedule Changes

March 16th Junior Grapplers Schedule Changes

We hope this finds you and your family doing well. We are always working to improve our program and have a few upcoming changes we want to share with you.

Tuesdays and Thursdays (5:00-6:00 PM): Separate Intermediate and Advanced JG Classes

Currently, we run a combined Junior Grapplers (JG) intermediate and advanced class during this time. Starting this month, we are splitting the mat into two separate classes. Our goal is to make sure every student is learning at the right level and being challenged so they can keep improving. Below is the breakdown of the requirements for each class:

  • Kids JG  Intermediate Class: To join the intermediate class, students must earn their gray-with-white belt and be at least 8 years old. In some cases, our coaching staff may decide a student should stay in the fundamentals class a little longer to make sure they really understand the basics. This decision is based on the student’s skill level, attitude, and maturity.

  • Kids JG Invite-Only Advanced Class: To join the advanced class, intermediate students must earn their gray-with-black belt, be at least 10 years old, and receive an invite from the coaching staff. We may invite some students while they are still gray belts so they can be challenged more. This is based on their ability on the mat, their attitude, and any previous grappling experience.

Mondays and Wednesdays (5:00-6:00 PM): New Junior Grapplers Fundamentals Class

We are excited to add a second Junior Grapplers Fundamentals class on Mondays and Wednesdays. This gives students who get out of school later or have other activities a chance to train with us on these days. The teens class will stay on the schedule as we help our younger students grow into that program.

Mondays and Wednesdays (5:00-6:00 PM): New Wrestling for BJJ Class

The Junior Grapplers No-Gi class is switching to an all-levels wrestling class. Coach Austyn is a high-level wrestler and has already been sharing his skills with the kids. We will also continue to cover submissions to make sure we keep the BJJ mindset of efficiency and self-defense.

Saturdays (9:30-10:30 AM): New All-Levels Competition Class (In the Gi)

This change has already been made, but we wanted to make sure that it is being communicated clearly. The Saturday JG No-Gi class is now an all-levels competition class in the Gi. This class is for kids interested in competing, or helping their teammates get ready for tournaments. If your child is new, a coach will work with them until they are ready to train with the group. Expect a fun and challenging session!

Please let us know if you or your child have any questions about these changes. We appreciate your continued support of our Academy!
