What is Muay Thai Kickboxing?

Muay Thai Kickboxing is an effective method of self-defense developed by the Siamese army during the medieval ages in Thailand. It is globally recognized as an extremely effective form of hand-to-hand combat and an incredible way to get in shape fast! Our Muay Thai Kickboxing program in Fort Collins is broken down into three distinct classes to provide the best training possible for the novice to the most advanced student.

What to expect at my first class at MTC?

You’re ready to try a free class and have submitted your information to our team, congratulations! One of our team members will be in touch to schedule your first free Muay Thai Kickboxing class. They will reach out a day prior to the class to confirm the details and send you a digital waiver.

For those who are new to Muay Thai Kickboxing, your initial class will be in one of our Fundamentals classes. Before the class commences, you will have a 30-minute intro session with a coach, during which you'll be introduced to the basics: mat etiquette, the history of Muay Thai, and fundamental striking techniques and movements. If you have trained before we may invite you to try one of our intermediate/advanced classes.

The class will begin with a cardiovascular warm-up, incorporating fundamental Muay Thai techniques, as well as dynamic movements to get your blood flowing. A brief shadow-boxing session follows, during which you'll learn some fundamental punches and the basics of footwork.

Next, the instructor will demonstrate the technique of the week, and then you will practice the technique on the heavy bags for a set time. The instructor will circulate among the groups to provide assistance where needed.

Congratulations! You've just completed your first Muay Thai Kickboxing class. As you continue attending, the experience becomes even more enjoyable as you progress through the program.

You'll advance to our Intermediate/advanced Muay Thai classes, where you'll learn the basics of pad work and weight-shifting. Keep showing up, and the journey gets even more exciting!
